Our Peninsula-based concierge service is designed to fit your convenience in both scheduling and location. After a thorough medical consultation with one of our board-certified physicians, our team will come to your home and place a soft, plastic feeding tube (about the size of a spaghetti noodle) through your nose into your stomach. Your feeding tube will then be connected to a lightweight, portable pump that delivers a continuous low calorie, protein-rich infusion with the recommended dietary allowance of vitamins and minerals for the next ten days. For clients outside the Palo Alto area we are happy to see you in our discrete office setting. Bridal parties or group placements can contact our office to arrange a team to travel to your locale.
Once you start your infusion you will stop eating for the remainder of your 10-day cycle. Water, black coffee and tea can be ingested liberally throughout the cycle. Amazingly, you will not feel significant hunger during this time. Our staff will check in with you each day to help you refill your tube feed nutrition and answer any questions you may have.
In the first two days of the cycle, glycogen stores from the liver are depleted before your body goes into a profound state of ketosis. The remaining eight days of the cycle rely solely on body fat as an energy source. During this time, nearly all clients have reported a heightened sense of energy and mental acuity due to the increased level of ketone bodies in their circulation. Some have described a feeling of “detoxification” as accumulated sugar stores in the body are depleted. Many of our clients have their feeding tubes removed before their 10-day cycle is up because they have reached their target weight. When your cycle is complete, our staff will be there to remove the feeding tube in a quick, simple process.
During their cycle clients can go about their daily routines as they normally would. Walking, weightlifting, and other forms of moderate exercise are highly encouraged. It’s easy to disconnect from the pump for brief periods to shower or bathe, and many of our clients continue going into work and engage in regular social activities. The social aspect of having a feeding tube taped to your cheek is mitigated by the small size of the tube and the rise in mask-wearing since the onset of the pandemic.
Clients typically undergo 1 to 4 cycles depending on their starting weight and the target weight they are hoping to reach. Many of our clients have become long-term members and repeat the process on an annual or semiannual basis as a way to drop accumulated weight as they age and weight-loss becomes more difficult. However long you are with us, our staff is committed to helping you develop a long-term, sustainable diet that will help you maintain a healthy weight.
